This annual event, held at a beloved seaside resort, has become a beloved tradition for hundreds of brave souls. Despite a yellow weather warning, over 1,800 participants plunged into the water, making it the biggest turnout in six decades.

The tradition began with a local swimmer, Arlon Owens, who was known for his unwavering dedication to daily swims, regardless of the weather. Alongside a few like-minded friends, he turned his morning sea dips into a community event, and soon enough, others were inspired to join.
By 1965, the Porthcawl Chamber of Trade officially sponsored the first formal dip, and the rest, as they say, is history. With a 'Swinging Sixties' theme this year, the dip raised funds for 2wish and the Sir Gareth Edwards Cancer Charity.
