Oh. What. Fun. Movie Review: Is it Worth Watching? (2026)

Prepare for a Christmas movie review that will leave you questioning the festive cheer!

The Holiday Hype vs. Reality

In a world saturated with generic Christmas movies, we often crave something unique. Enter "Oh. What. Fun.", a film that promised to be different, with an all-star cast including the legendary Michelle Pfeiffer. But here's where it gets controversial...

The movie opens with a bold statement, a feminist critique of the Christmas genre, taking aim at classics like "Planes, Trains and Automobiles". Pfeiffer's character, Claire Clauster, delivers a scathing line that resonates: "Steve Martin's some kind of hero for trying to get home, but what about his wife? She gets 89 seconds of screen time!"

However, the film's initial promise fades as it transforms into a familiar tale of dysfunctional family dynamics, reminiscent of "The Family Stone" or "Christmas with the Kranks", with a twist of "Home Alone" thrown in.

"Oh. What. Fun." follows the Clauster family on a festive day trip, where a series of events leads to the accidental abandonment of the matriarch, Claire. Furious and feeling slighted, she embarks on a chaotic journey to Hollywood, while her family must navigate their differences and realize the importance of support for moms during the holidays.

But here's the catch: the story, much like a light dusting of Christmas sleet, fails to leave a lasting impression. The characters feel half-baked, a subplot involving a "perfect" Asian-American family feels outdated, and the quirky soundtrack, though well-intentioned, falls flat.

And this is the part most people miss: when a comedy relies more on the rhythm of an oompah band than actual jokes, you know something is amiss.

Despite these shortcomings, Pfeiffer's charisma shines through, a beacon of talent in an otherwise mediocre film.

So, is "Oh. What. Fun." worth your time? You decide.
