Mishawaka's Downtown and Southwest Areas Hit by Major Power Outage
Mishawaka, Indiana (WNDU) - A significant power outage has plunged parts of the city into darkness. The incident occurred around 10 a.m., according to local police reports.
Mishawaka Utilities has confirmed a large-scale outage affecting the downtown core and southwestern areas of the city. Specifically, the affected regions are located south of the river, stretching from Ironwood Drive in the west to Merrifield Avenue in the east.
Despite the disruption, Mishawaka Utilities has been working diligently to restore power to customers in the area from Ironwood to Logan Street. They are currently focused on bringing electricity back to the remaining impacted areas.
To manage traffic safely during this time, the Mishawaka Street Department has installed stop signs at every intersection where traffic signals are non-functional. Motorists are advised to treat these intersections as four-way stops, exercising caution and patience.
