It's not just yellow jerseys that Jonas Vingegaard is collecting these days. The cycling superstar is quietly building a significant property empire, and it's raising eyebrows.
According to recent reports, the two-time Tour de France winner and current Vuelta champion has just added another house to his portfolio in the quaint Danish fishing town of Glyngore. This latest acquisition brings his total number of homes in the area to a staggering four, and his overall property count to five.
But here's where it gets interesting: the new property sits right next to one he already owns. The family's primary residence, since spring 2024, is a larger home just outside Glyngore, offering stunning views of the fjord.
A Cash Deal in a Small Town
The new house cost a cool 6.5 million kroner, and the deal was made without a mortgage, according to land registry details. In a town like Glyngore, this price tag puts the property firmly at the high end of the market. The house itself boasts a 1,051 square meter plot with views of Sallingsund, 146 square meters of living space, a large carport, and an outbuilding, bringing the total built area to approximately 190 square meters.
What are Vingegaard's plans for this new addition? Will it be rented out, or will it eventually be combined with the neighboring plot to create an even larger property? The possibilities are intriguing.
From the Road to Real Estate
Vingegaard has previously stated he prefers to invest in property rather than spend lavishly on other things. This recent purchase aligns perfectly with that philosophy.
An overview of the family's holdings reveals how quickly this portfolio has grown. The centerpiece is a luxury villa in Glyngore, purchased in 2024 for 13.25 million kroner. This villa sits on a vast plot of land, complete with a wellness area, swimming pool, wine cellar, and even a riding arena.
In the same year, they also acquired a luxury summer house in Egaa, near Aarhus, for 6.25 million kroner. Previous investments include a villa in Glyngore bought in 2022 for 3.475 million kroner, and a separate plot bought in 2019, where an older house was demolished and replaced with a new build, reportedly for Vingegaard's mother-in-law.
With the latest acquisition, four of the family's five properties are concentrated around Glyngore, highlighting their strong ties to the area.
Looking Ahead: Both on and off the Bike
While Vingegaard prepares for the upcoming season, reports suggest the team will head to Spain for a training camp next week. His season program is expected to be announced soon.
On the road, his legacy is already secure. He's a two-time Tour de France winner and the reigning Vuelta champion, solidifying his place among the greatest Grand Tour riders of his era. There's even talk of him making his Giro d’Italia debut in 2026, giving him the chance to compete for victories in all three Grand Tours.
