ETSU Closed on Feb 2: Winter Weather Update and Academic Deadlines (2026)

East Tennessee State University (ETSU) will be closed on Monday, February 2, due to hazardous winter road conditions. This closure means the university will implement its operational "Plan C," which provides detailed procedures and can be accessed at etsu.edu/operations.

However, there is an exception to this plan: the first floor of Sherrod Library will be open on February 2 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., allowing students and faculty to access resources during this time.

Additionally, the deadline for fee payment for the spring 2026 semester is set for Monday, February 2, with payments required by 4:30 p.m. Students who find themselves needing assistance with payments while the offices are closed are encouraged to reach out via email at reachout@etsu.edu, as staff members will be available throughout the day, irrespective of weather conditions.

In light of the university’s closure due to the forecasted weather, there has been an adjustment to a significant academic deadline. The last day students can drop a class without receiving a ‘W’ grade has been extended to Tuesday, February 3. However, the deadline for adding a class without requiring approval from the dean will remain as Monday, February 2, at 4:30 p.m.

For any further support, students should not hesitate to send an email to reachout@etsu.edu.

During inclement weather, additional information and instructions will be communicated through email, posted on ETSU’s official social media channels, and detailed at etsu.edu/operations.
