The Canadian International Trade Tribunal has launched a critical investigation into the impact of oil country tubular goods on the domestic market. The inquiry focuses on goods originating from Mexico, the Philippines, Türkiye, South Korea, and the United States. This final injury inquiry was prompted by a preliminary determination made by the Canada Border Services Agency regarding the dumping of these goods. The Tribunal aims to determine whether the dumping has caused harm to the domestic industry, including injury, retardation, or the threat of injury. On April 21, 2026, the Tribunal will make its final ruling. As an independent quasi-judicial body, the Tribunal plays a vital role in ensuring fair trade practices by hearing cases related to dumped and subsidized imports, safeguard complaints, federal government procurement, and customs and excise tax appeals. Additionally, it provides expert advice on economic, trade, and tariff matters when requested by the federal government. Any interested party, association, or government can participate in the inquiry by submitting Form I—Notice of Participation. This process ensures transparency and allows for a comprehensive evaluation of the impact of imported goods on the domestic market.
