But here's where it gets controversial: While progress is undeniable, foldable phones are still more complex and costly to produce than regular smartphones. They may never match the durability of a traditional phone due to their intricate design. From manufacturing to durability testing, every step incurs additional expenses, and the presence of multiple high-resolution displays further drives up costs.
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold's price tag in South Korea is a staggering KRW3,5900,400 (approximately $2,428), contrasting sharply with the $780 price of a single-screen Samsung Galaxy S25. Dahiya believes that this high entry barrier will keep foldable phones in the niche market of tech enthusiasts for the foreseeable future.
